We had about 650 miles to go today or something, and we made such good time all day. We left the Best Western in New Mexico this morning at like 7:15am mountain time. We still, however, spent 13 hours on the road because we hit the LA area around 6:00 local time. We didn’t really even get into the heart of LA, but I sure had my fill. Its not even that traffic was super thick. There were no accidents or significant slow downs. What made it so stressful was the fact that we had to drive like 55 miles an hour while cars are flying by us at like 80 miles an hour! It wouldnt have been near as bad if we had just been in one or even two normal cars. But the Penske truck made that experience not so enjoyable. Here’s the thing about the truck . . . it goes fine, even drives up to 65 miles an hour with the car carrier on the back . . . until we hit any sort of incline. It simply can not handle the up part of mountains and hills. There was one point today where we both had our flashers on because we were driving literally 35 miles an hour trying to make it up the hill. You really have to laugh at that I suppose. But we made it to our final state, and tomorrow will be a short drive. Only 300 miles or so says my sweet husband.
A few things to thank God for tonight:
1. We have had great weather all the way; 2. We have not had any bad traffic back ups to set us back; 3. (Biggie) Tonight we got to our hotel in Santa Clarita and one of the front wheels on the 4Runner was completely unstrapped. David checks it almost every time we stop and it has been fine. But we pulled in tonight at like 8:30pm and it had come off! The roads in LA were so bumpy and had so many potholes. But David fixed it up good and it should make our last couple of hours just fine. (Plus I will be coming up in the lane next to him quite often to check it). Love you all.
