Today was our one year anniversary celebration since South Bay’s launch in February of 2009! We had an awesome time in both services giving glory to God for all He has done over the past year. We also had a record high attendance again, 319 people! I have posted some pictures here for you to see a glimpse of our experience today. We had two large walls of boxes on either side of the stage representing the months South Bay has been in existence. For each box, the large number represents how many people indicated a decision for Christ that month through the ministry of South Bay church. The people holding cardboard had written who they were on one side and then how Christ changed them on the other. The Band played while one by one about 25 people gave “cardboard testimonies”. It was a very powerful time of gratitude to God for what He has done in our hearts.
Andy is renewing the vision again for evangelism and the importance of reaching the next ONE with the gospel. His message today highlighted God’s heart for individual souls, and his desire to use one person for great things like he did throughout the Scriptures.
What its all about. Yesterday David and I had the privilege of together sharing the message of the Christ with someone in our apartment complex. She came to South Bay last week for the first time and filled out a connection card asking for more information. We went to her apartment and she basically told us she did not grow up in church and did not have any understanding of the message of the Bible. We drew pictures and explained the gospel to her in the most foundational and simple way we could. She committed her life to Christ and wants to grow and be a part of South Bay church! I will be meeting with her once a week starting this Tuesday. I won’t share her name yet because I haven’t asked her if I could. Please pray for her as we begin the discipleship process. Your prayers are making a difference!
