We just got back today from a mini vacation about an hour south of here . . . we planned it after Kids Games since David had to work some crazy long hours to pull that thing off! Great time getting to see some sights we hadn’t seen yet. Here’s our quick replay of the weekend: Got to Monterey Thursday afternoon . . . ate lunch at the Red House Cafe in Pacific Grove, then did the 17-mile drive. It was pretty cool. . . then went to the fisherman’s wharf in downtown Monterey on Thursday night. Ate at The Fisherman’s Grotto. Saw lots of harbor seals that were basically in the parking lot they were so close. They make the wierdest noises. Found an excellent coffee place called Plume’s. Drip coffee by the cup . . . fabulous. Look out, Philz.
Friday we hiked at Point Lobos State Reserve, saw some beautiful coast line and got awesome pictures. Ate lunch at the Rio Grill (which was nicer than we thought, and great food). Friday night went to Carmel, was much bigger and more crowded than we expected, but very nice. Coffee at Carmel Coffee House and Roasting Company. Drove the scenic drive along the beach by some amazingly unique cottages. Marvelous dinner at Da Giovanni’s Italian restaurant.
Then today we got up and went to Plume’s again for some morning coffee and took it to Cannery Row in Monterey. Lots of cute shops and not near as crowded as some of the other places. Ate lunch at Bubba Gump’s on the water.
We really had a great time just taking a break for a couple of days. It was actually pretty cold there compared to Santa Clara, and it was cloudy most of the time but we still had a blast and are so thankful for the opportunity to go. I’m sure we’ll be back soon since its in our back yard 🙂 Here are some pictures we took . . .
