Yep, that’s right. After tomorrow I am no longer a turkey virgin. I have found a great recipe that includes an overnight brine and some special aromatics. Last night we went to the store to get a turkey roasting pan and a mean meat thermometer. I am tired of those old 5.99 thermometers that you can’t trust. This is Thanksgiving! If I mess the turkey up we’ll be eating rotisserie chickens from Safeway. Last night we also bought a 5 gallon bucket to do the brine. Guess what color the buckets were at Home Depot? Bright orange. That’s ghetto, but it was $1.97, and we even bought the lid for 98 cents.
I hope I don’t have an exciting story to tell tomorrow. I hope everything goes as planned and the turkey cooperates with our plan. But even if it cooks perfectly, we still have to transport it to Milpitas, about a 10-15 minute drive from where we live. This should be interesting. We’ll take pictures.
