Last week we were a fig. Today we graduate on to a new food . . . our baby is now the size of a lime. Fingers and toes can curl, eye muscles can clinch and internal organs like kidneys are starting to do their job.
Just the other day we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was beating so fast and strong! Hearing the heartbeat was much more emotional for me than just seeing the heartbeat at 7 weeks. Why is that? I didn’t expect it to be any different. I guess seeing it just confirmed on a head level that yes, our baby is alive and healthy so far. But hearing it made it so much more real! How fascinating that there is a developing human being in my tummy!
On a morning sickness note, I have noticed the past few days I’ve felt very little if any nausea. On Saturday David and I were in the city with some friends and I felt great all day long, on the trains and out in the sun and walking all over the place. Sunday and today were also great. I am hoping the streak will continue and I’ll be able to feel better each day. Second trimester here I come!
