Last night when we went to sleep the baby still had not turned. She seemed happy and active but remained posterior. As I said in my previous post, this means that although her head is down, which is good, she was facing forward which makes labor more difficult for both of us.
We prayed as we crawled into bed that God would help little sweet pea to figure out how to turn herself during the night so she’d be ready and more comfortable for labor. I probably got up 6 times last night which is ridiculous, but each time she was still and I couldn’t tell for sure if she’d moved. This morning we had a doctor’s appointment and on the way there the baby started waking up and I began to feel that familiar feeling of little feet on my right ribcage. Uncomfortable but such a welcome feeling!
Our midwife checked and confirmed that the baby did turn and her back is to my left now, her legs and face to my right. Her head is also pretty deep into the pelvis so hopefully she’ll stay that way. This is exactly what needed to happen! Babies should be able to rotate all the way backwards during labor as they go through the birth canal so they can come out facing down. Although it doesn’t always happen It just works best that way, so I am thankful to God that we are on the right track for a natural delivery . . . hoping to avoid meds altogether!
Thank you to all who prayed . . . more updates to come!
