She’s finally here! Our precious baby girl was born on Thursday January 12th at 12:14 in the afternoon. She weighed 9 lbs 13 oz, 21 1/2 inches long. This is the first of what will be several blogs upcoming about the birth of Ella Jordyn. I’ve taken a break from the blogosphere for obvious reasons, but I’m back.
Many of you have experienced the birth of a first child, the thrill and anxiety and newness of it all. Its been one week since she was born . . . so we are right in the thick of it! Things are crazy. The house looks like Babies R Us exploded in the living room, we’re trying to get some sort of regularness to what we’re doing, feeling lots of emotions, up all hours of the night and loving every minute. Well almost every minute 🙂
Ella had a period of time where she wasn’t pooping and her pediatrician was concerned so now even dirty diapers are cause for celebration! And she’s had a ton of them!
My mom is here and has been helping with laundry and dishes and packing diaper bags and sewing quilts. We’ve got a mealtrain set up for folks from South Bay to bring meals by the house which has been a huge blessing. David has been absolutely amazing. I’ve been recovering very slowly from the birth and I can do some things now but most of it fell on him, especially in the very beginning. He is a pro now at changing clothes, changing poopy diapers with feet kicking everywhere and screaming bloody murder, burping, carseat-ing and assisting me when breastfeeding. He slept with the baby on his chest for the first few nights because she wouldn’t sleep otherwise. I can’t imagine doing this without him.
Overall things are going well. Yesterday was the best day yet and Ella slept most of the night so we did too! We are starting to learn her cries and body language. We’re in for lots of ups and downs I know, but as each thing big or small comes up we are watching God answer prayers and help us figure this thing out!
