Ella is developing and growing each day. She is steady gaining about an ounce a day, and I can tell her tummy is bigger because she can eat twice as much as she could a week ago. We have discovered that she absolutely doesn’t mind the carseat at all and has not cried in there one time yet. She likes to drive and falls asleep easily. My mom says we have an easy baby. We’ll just hope that sweet little compliant spirit continues on!
Our nighttime routine is dependent on when she decides to have her “play” time, which (as it was in the womb) is usually sometime late at night when people want to be sleeping. If it’s not playtime, she may just be generally inconsolable during that time because of gas or other tummy troubles.
As for me, I am super blessed to have a husband that sees caring for the baby as teamwork and not a mom thing. I am recovering well, feeling better every day. I’ll write soon about the actual birth with more details. There are definitely some blogs brewing in me about that. . . but I was able to fit into my normal non-maternity jeans yesterday! Ella stayed with Mimi (my mom) for a couple hours while David and I went to Target and got a little desert at Panera. Thanks Mimi!
This week David starts back into a more normal schedule in the office, and mom leaves on Wednesday morning to fly back to Alabama. We’ll miss her around here but we’re also up for the challenge of managing this new normal by ourselves! While she’s been here, in addition to helping us with everything around the house she has fixed the dust ruffle and bumpers on the crib and made us a quilt! Here is a picture of the quilt in progress. . .
On the back its black with tiny white polka dots. . . the same fabric that the bumpers are made out of. I love it! I think she could sell her stuff on Etsy!
