I have realized that growth spurts are no joke.
As you may know Ella has been an excellent sleeper since like 5 weeks…with exception to her 6 week growth spurt. That week it was like a switch flipped and she became a different baby. Waking up sometimes twice in the night to eat, fussy, and her clothes got tighter all the sudden! I heard the next one was usually at three months, so I’ve been all this time wondering what that one would be like and if I would notice it when it hit. She turns three months on the 12th.
Well the growth spurt came early because for 6 out of the last 7 days she has woken up between 4 and 5:30am hungry. So I would feed her and then put her back to bed and sleep until she woke up again. Of course the nice schedule we had went out the window. She was so much more fussy too, and ate more often during the day.
Yesterday I was getting my hair cut and my friend Kristen took Ella outside for awhile. She did great apparently at first and then when they got back she was crying so loud I’m sure everyone in the whole salon stopped their conversations. I couldn’t console her at all so even though it had only been an hour and a half or so I just put her under the cape and fed her while my hair was being blow-dried! She was hungry again!
But the good news is today she slept from 11:30 to 7:30am! It is the best feeling in the world to open my eyes for the first time and see that it’s light outside. I’m hoping this means she is back to her normal self! Only time will tell.
