Oh my little A-Bug, you are turning two years old today! You are such a source of joy in our family! You love to go. You love to dance. You love to see.
You are a delight to my heart and you and I have some really special moments together. You love to be tickled when you’re on the changing table, and I often kiss your armpits and blow on your tummy and you think that is sooo funny. Sometimes I just can’t stop because I love your laughter so much. You say “get me” and want to be tickled over and over again. You have also started saying “shrach yo back” and puling up your shirt so we can scratch your tummy or your back. I love how you stretch out your arms and legs and make a big crazy face when we are putting lotion on you after your bath. Not sure what started that but you have always done it since you were like 6 months old. You will truly listen when we ask you to stop crying or running and look us in the eye. You understand so much its amazing.
You are getting along so well with your sister. You love to be chased and to playfully tease her by taking her things and running. Daddy says chasing is your love language and he is right. You are pretty tough too, Ella likes to jump and roll on you and though sometimes you cry you mostly giggle and laugh until you have had enough and then you say “I don’t want it!” until she stops. You’ve started defending yourself recently and will strike back with a loud noise or pulling hair or even hitting a few times. Its good for Ella 🙂 I have so enjoyed the past month or so especially because you both can play together for longer periods of time. You love to make slides out of our grey Ikea couch and jump all over the cushions. We make forts sometimes too. You also love the air mattress, which has finally acquired a hole from all the toddler jumping and wrestling it has endured! You just recently had your first moment of empathy when you hit Ella in the nose on accident while acting like a monkey. You just kept repeating “I say ooh ooh ah” trying to process what happened and saying “Ella crying.” I could tell you felt so bad because you didn’t mean to hurt her. Don’t worry it will happen many more times I’m sure!
I can’t wait to see you hold and interact with your baby brother who is due in just a couple short weeks! You kiss him in my tummy every time you can. You love animals, especially kitty’s and doggies and anything small and cute. You can’t help but kiss little cute things and you make this scrunchy nose face and squeal, its like you can’t help yourself. Two times now you have insisted that I stop the shopping cart at Target and get you out so you can kiss the picture of the dog and cat at the pet food isle. Then of course Ella wants to do the same so your very pregnant mother is pulling both children out of the cart and lifting you up high to kiss the animals. Kind of wish I never started that but I must say it is quite cute.
You are coming along so fast in your talking, you repeat everything even if its something said in the next room! I think your first word was Mommy one day when I picked you up from BayKids. Stacie Wood heard it too! You were around 12 months old. We are continually laughing at your funny ways of saying things and at how much you understand at such a young age. Some funny things you say “I scared” and you talk about the cookie monster; you are saying “watch this” all the time now but it sounds like “oh shis” so we laugh at that all the time. Your trademark animal noise has always been pig. Doowah and Mimi ask you all the time still to do the pig and your snort to make them laugh.
Its summer now so our house on N 5th St is all caved up most afternoons with dark sheets on the windows and you and Ella get to watch more movies and shows. You love Monkey time on the couch with Ella (12 min episodes of Curious George) and though you love watching it you have a much shorter attention span with that than Ella does so you are looking for things to do after about 25-30 minutes. Usually that involves you prowling around in the kitchen to find something to pull off the counter! You also love Bubble Guppies (which Ella is over so you hardly ever get to see!) and you love Dumbo, Clifford, and Winnie the Pooh.
One of the things you do that I think is so funny is you put a blanket or something on your head to where you can’t see at all and you walk around bumping into things. You will walk right smack into a chair or wall because you want to. Then you laugh and do it again. You also will take buckets of water and dump them on your head in the tub and you’ll stick your face in the water too, or lay on your back in water that almost covers your face! You are bold and brave and you love a thrill.
Our biggest challenge with you right now is your little terrible two attitude that is emerging. You are becoming more strong willed and when you don’t get what you want you fall on the floor and cry. But don’t worry little one you will learn, we will keep disciplining you and explaining to you why we do or don’t do certain things, or why you can’t have or touch certain things, and you will keep growing and learning. Our prayer this year is that your daddy and I will capture your heart even more. That you will start to understand the love between us and that you would want to please us. We want to lead you to know Jesus and love Him enough to trust his will for you. You have so much life and passion in you, and you are bold and loving. I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for you! Your daddy and I love you so much and would do anything in the world for you. You are a precious gift to our family and to everyone who knows you.
